The Mediterranean forest, to the east of the big lagoons, is the wildest area of Valdepajares of Tajo. With a very distinct relief and a thick and perfumed undergrowth of lavender and cistus, it is the refuge of true forest species such as the beech martin and northern goshawk. A place of shelter for an excellent variety of wild fauna, it is also a refuge for deer and wild boar.

The regeneration of the woodland and the fertility of the ground are important characteristics of ‘Vivencia Deshesa’ which has succeeded in harmonizing a difficult balance, caring for the agricultural, livestock and forest uses of its space.
